Connect to database with PowerBI?

This article provides steps how to connect to MSSQL database with PowerBI Desktop.

1) Enable remote database connection in Control panel

First you'll need to activate remote database connection in our Hosting Control Panel and take note of your remote login details, you'll need them later.

2) Run PowerBI Desktop

Run PowerBI Desktop application and select Import data from SQL server.
In opened window fill Public Server Address and Database Name that you obtained from Control Panel previous step and click OK.

3) Select database authentication

In next step is important select Database from left menu and then fill Database Login and Database Password and click Connect.

4) Congratulations, it's done

Now your PowerBI Desktop is connected to your database and you can work with it as you like in PowerBI.
